Flooring options

There are many different options that are available when it comes to flooring a marquee. We hope that this guide will help you choose the best option for your event.

OPTION 1: NO FLOOR AT ALL

There is no requirement to install a floor in any of our structures. For a day time event where the mood is relaxed and understated, leaving the marquee open on the grass or stone can often be a good cost effective solution.

OPTION 2: GROUNSHEET AND CARPET

Traditionally marquees were floored with a matting which was reused time and time again. Key Structures has a modern take on this which involves laying a new event grade carpet over a groundsheet. This is an excellent cost effective solution where a floor is required without the need for a solid uniform surface. Key Structures keeps stock carpet colours of Charcoal, Green and Blue. Many other colours are also available on a one off bespoke basis - please just ask. All our carpet is used onyl once but is sourced from fully recyclable sources.

OPTION 3: WOODEN INTERLOCKING FLOOR WITH CARPET

Our standard flooring system involves fitting slatted interlocking floorboards inside the marquee. These wooden boards are made of 8' x 2' sections which are raised two inches off the ground on batons. Although the floor can be packed out to remove smaller bumps and dimples on the site it effectively follows the contours of the ground. After we have laid the floor we fit our event carpet over the top.

Wooden interlocking flooring provides a solid uniform surface suitable for seated dinners or corporate functions. It does have a small amount of give depending on the layout of the land though is by far and away the most cost effective hard flooring solution.

OPTION 4: CASSETTE FLOORING SYSTEM

The Rolls-Royce of flooring, the cassette system involves fitting a steel frame deck across the required area. Wooden floor boards are then inserted into the frame. The level of the steel frame can be adjusted to normalise the natural contours of the ground giving a totally solid and uniform surface irrespective of the ground beneath it. After the steel frame has been fitted the frame of the marquee is bolted on top.

Cassette floor is the ideal solution where you seek florring perfection and would be recommended for most hard sided structures or those where quality of the floor is an important part of the event. At present Key Structures offers a cassette flooring system for 6 metre and 9 metre structures.

OPTION 5: SCAFFOLDING

Although not technically a flooring option Key Structures uses scaffolding to overcome large height differentials. Scaffolding is totally flexible and can often surprise even the most experienced in its ability to overcome the most seemingly impossible situations.
