Key Structures in a larger map
Featuring such historic buildings as Westminster Abbey, the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Cathedral and Buckingham Palace, as well as some of London’s royal parks, The City of Westminster is fast becoming a regular location for Key Structures. With space at such a premium in central London we are often asked to build marquees on streets and in courtyards, rather than on the green areas often found in other London boroughs. Working on events on roads in Central London, notably Bond Street and Motcomb Street, it is our innovative self-weighted sub-frame flooring system that sets us apart from the competition. Using this floor system, which offers a perfectly level finish, our tents can be built almost anywhere.
Working in the smaller streets of the City of Westminster we have honed our skills. The Stafford Hotel, in Blueball Yard, has become a regular client and we are often asked to cover the cobbled courtyard in front of the hotel. The smaller gardens and courtyards of Mayfair have always been where Key Structures has thrived. Recently working on Hertford street we proved that we have marquees to match any requirement. Working in such historic surroundings, often with delicate plants and trees as well as listed buildings surrounding them, our experienced operational staff have become adept at erecting and dismantling structures safely and efficiently.
Our most regular marquee location in Westminster is Trafalgar Square. Each year we proudly support Canada Day with our structures, providing cover across the square. Working in such an environment provides its own set of challenges. Such a public location means that temporary structures must be installed and removed at night, so as to cause the least disruption to the public. This is something we often find ourselves doing when liaising with local authorities and can be arranged no matter the location of the event.
Our previous work in Westminster
Working on Bond Street for ‘Fashion’s Night Out London 2012’ we used marquees from our Pagoda range. Built on the sub-frame floor system these were fully rated to manufacturer specifications without needing unsightly external ballast blocks. Installed in the early hours and removed overnight they caused minimal disruption to local businesses and the general public.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was a particular highlight in 2012. Key Structures was proud to provide cover for the Queen and Commonwealth Heads of Government at Malborough House. Our 15m Clearspan Structure proved to be the perfect, unobtrusive cover for the official photography.
Each year we provide marquees for Press Media Holdings in Birdcage Walk. Installing marquees from our London Garden range in the garden of The Spectator headquarters so as to make the most of the available space, we ensure the party is a success year on year.
