When it comes to London Gardens, space is always a premium, even in the most prestigious of post codes. When marquees are concerned, this is even more relevant, and the ability to fit in that extra metre of length or width, can really make or break a party. Whether it’s squeezing in one more table, to allow all your friends to come, or creating that little bit extra space on the dancefloor, to really allow people to bust out their moves.
Key Structures understand this and have invested continuously in the means and methods to maximise event space wherever it is. Traditionally, marquees have come in set sizes, increasing in 3m increments. (3m, 6m, 9m etc…). Seeing the shortcomings of this, with respects London Gardens, Key Structures has built up stock of those in-between sizes (4m, 5m, 7m, 8m) to allow full coverage of your garden. If your garden is 8m wide, then an 8m wide marquee is what you need.
The above being said, width and length are not the only obstacles to maximising a garden’s potential. In August this year, Key Structures were invited by Liz Linkleter Events to come up with a solution to create a bespoke event space to accommodate 140 guests for a sit down dinner and dance at their clients home in Primrose Hill. The main hurdle to overcome was the 15m swimming pool taking up the majority of the garden.
With insufficient space around the pool to allow for enough guest space, the only option was to construct a support platform over the pool to maximise the full garden area. Using a combination of structurally specified RSJ’s and our steel sub-frame floor system, we were able to safely span the pool and create a levelled platform throughout the garden. On to this we built a combination of 9m and 8m Span structures to allow border to border coverage.
Internally, we worked in conjunction with Linkleter Events and Seamless Interiors to create the atmosphere of an Italian Summers Evening. Natural Sea Grass floor covering, conjoined with cream tack-off linings created the elegant neutral background from which foliage (from Kitten Grayson Flowers) was hung to create a seamless link between the garden and marquee.
The project was a huge success and we loved bringing that little bit of Mediterranean magic to North London.
